About Rody
A barrister who has spent twenty years teaching law
Rody O'Brien founded Rody O'Brien Legal Education in 2007 to teach law the way it is examined and practised: live, in small groups, and by someone who does both.
Teaching that comes from the exam room and the courtroom
Rody was called to the Bar at King's Inns in 2005 and has practised since, giving opinions, drafting and appearing in the High Court and Circuit Court in tort and negligence, judicial review, medical law, family law, probate and planning.
Since 2006 Rody has lectured in law at University College Dublin, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Griffith College Dublin, Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin Business School, BPP Professional Education and Maynooth University: designing modules, leading programmes, and setting and marking exams at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
That is the experience behind every FE-1 session. Years of setting and marking law exams shape how Rody teaches you to answer one.
Rody also serves as Legal Counsel to Aitheantas, the adoptee identity rights organisation, and has given expert evidence to Oireachtas committees on constitutional law, family law and legal drafting, including on the legislation that became the Birth Information and Tracing Act 2022.
